Chris Halfknight
Chief - RYA Dinghy Instructor
The club ran an open day in June 2009 and we borrowed 6 little Laser dinghies called Bugs. I fell in love with them and thought it would be a great idea to start a sailing school within the club and persuaded the club to buy them and so the Bug Club was born. I sold my Dart to become a fully qualified RYA Dinghy Instructor. With the fantastic support from Richard John, Matthew Cooper and John Cooper (Also qualified Instructors) and many others the Bug Club has achieved great success and we now have 40 junior members aged 8 to 18 sailing our 6 Bugs, 4 Pico’s and a Laser Bahia. Bug week every August is just amazing and I would like to thank all the assistants and the children’s parents for making it all such a great success.

John Cooper
Senior Instructor
My role with the Bug Club is as one of the Senior Instructors. That means I lead some sessions and instruct in others to maximise fun in a safe environment. The Bug Club works as a team of equals when planning Bug Club and Bug week, while I have a special interest in arranging volunteer training and acquiring training boats to keep up with the expansion of the Bug Club.
